Chuspas (ch'uspas) have been used by the people of Cusco, Peru to carry coca leaves for thousands of years. These handwoven colorful bags were not only used for their practicality but also served as an important symbol of social identity. The intricate designs of each chuspa was meant to showcase how skilled the artisans are while also displaying their cultural affiliation to the Q'ero community. This red with multicolor patterned chuspa is woven from alpaca fibers and natural dyes. Adorned with two fringed tassels at the bottom, it has a matching woven shoulder strap, a small zip front pocket and a zipper enclosure.
